Your privacy is important to us at NKTR. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our app.

1. Information We Collect

NKTR may collect the following types of information from users:

• Account Information: When you register, we may collect your name, email address, profile picture, and other basic profile information. The email address you use to sign up cannot be changed without a support request, and it is not shared with anyone else.
• Contact Details: You may elect to enter a public-facing email address to share with others you choose on the system. All other contact information remains private and is only shared at your discretion.
• Location Data: To provide proximity-based features, NKTR may collect your device’s location data when the app is in use. You can adjust location sharing settings in your device preferences.
• Chat Messages and Media: When you use chat, we collect the text you send and any photos, videos, or files you attach. Video capture may include microphone audio for that recording. Chat media is stored so participants in that conversation can view it, and you may optionally save media to your device gallery.
• Notes and Networking Details: Any notes or details you add to your contacts are stored securely in NKTR.
• Usage Data: We may collect information on how you interact with the app, including features used, interactions, device data, and analytics for performance monitoring and improvement purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

NKTR uses your information to provide, maintain, and improve the app’s services. Specifically, we may use your information to:

• Enable connections and networking features, such as proximity detection and contact sharing.
• Deliver chat messages and media you choose to send to other participants in a conversation.
• Enhance your networking experience with personalized suggestions and insights.
• Analyze usage trends and improve NKTR’s functionality and user experience.
• Send updates, alerts, and important communications related to your use of NKTR.

3. Sharing Your Information

NKTR does not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only under these circumstances:

• With Your Consent: We share your contact information only when you choose to connect with others on NKTR. The text, photos, videos, and files you send in a chat are shared with the other participants in that chat, and only with them — they are not shown publicly. This content is stored by our hosting provider so participants can view it, and recipients may save it to their own devices.
• Service Providers: We may work with trusted third-party providers who assist us with app functionality, data storage, or analytics. These providers are bound by confidentiality agreements.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect NKTR’s rights and safety.

4. User-Generated Content and Moderation

NKTR lets you create and share content with other users, including text messages and the photos, videos, and files you upload in chats. You are responsible for the content you share, and you agree not to post content that is unlawful, abusive, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable, or that infringes the rights of others. NKTR does not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users.

To keep the community safe, NKTR provides the following tools and takes the following actions:

• Reporting content: Every photo, video, or file shared in a chat has a report (“flag”) control, both next to the item and in the full-screen viewer. Selecting it opens a “Report this content” form where you can describe the problem and submit it to our team for review.
• Blocking users: You can block another user from their profile or from your nearby-people list. Once blocked, that user’s chat messages are hidden from you across all conversations.
• Review and removal: We review reported content and may remove any content that violates these rules. We may also suspend or remove the accounts of users who post objectionable content or otherwise violate our terms.

To report objectionable content or request that content be removed, use the in-app report control or email us at support@nktr.app. Please include enough detail for us to identify the content, such as the chat and the approximate time.

5. Data Security

Your data is protected with industry-standard encryption, both in transit and at rest. We regularly review our security practices to ensure the protection of your personal information. However, no data transmission over the internet or mobile networks can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

6. Your Choices and Controls

You have control over your data and privacy settings within NKTR. You may:

• Update or modify your account information at any time in your profile settings. However, the email address you registered with cannot be changed without a support request.
• Adjust location settings to control when and how your location data is used.
• Control camera, microphone, and photo library access in your device settings; denying these permissions limits profile and chat media features but does not block core account use.
• Delete your whole account (or partial data deletion) by contacting support@nktr.app, which will permanently remove your data from NKTR.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services or as required by law. If you delete your account, we will delete your data within a reasonable time, except for information that we are legally obligated to retain.

8. Children's Privacy

NKTR is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the bottom of this page. Continued use of NKTR after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
